Authors keep copyright in their work. Publishing here grants permission to publish, not ownership.
What the author keeps
Copyright, in full. Publishing here grants a non exclusive right to publish and to keep the record available permanently. You can submit the same work elsewhere, subject to whatever that venue requires, and you can post it yourself anywhere you like.
What a reader may do
Each record states its own license. The default is Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, which lets anyone share and adapt the work, including commercially, as long as they credit the authors and say whether they changed anything. An author who needs different terms can say so before publication.
Figures and material from elsewhere
A license an author grants covers their own work. Anything reproduced from another source keeps that source's terms and is credited in the caption.
Permanence
Every record has an address that does not change and an identifier that is never reused, so a citation made today still resolves years from now. Fixing a typo in a title does not move the address. If a record is withdrawn, the page says so rather than disappearing.
The software
SciPath itself is separate from any of this. It is released under the MIT license and none of its terms touch what an author owns. The source is public.
